This Stupa was build around the fifteenth century by Lama Karma and Lama Jedpa Dorjay of Zongkhul monastery. They were great builders of Stupa, Mani walls and Buddhist manuscripts. Their work still exist in Zanskar region. This Stupa is the biggest one in the whole village. It is one among the eight kinds of Stupa in Buddhist methodology called the “INDUM”. It is the manifestation of Buddha’s reunification of the Sangha after the depressal by Deva Datta at Raj Ghiri. In the fifteenth century, there was a large nunnery at Phey monastery. This Stupa was built to unify the nun Sangha in the monastery and for prevailing of the peace and harmony in the world. Today the condition of the Stupa are miserable and on the verge to be destroyed. We are trying to establish a nunnery in the Monstery and the rebuilding of this Stupa may bless us to unify the nun Sangha in the near future
